Berlin – This goodbye is incredibly painful – and not just for the fans! On Thursday, ZDF announced that the crime series “One Case for Two” will be discontinued for good after 46 years. The final season (four episodes) will air next year, followed by a 90-minute feature film. After that it’s all over.
The main actors are Vanier Mues (52 years old) and Antoine Monod (51 years old). end of the series a heavy blow they will now have to deal with. Because both actors had already grown into their roles and perceived “Affair for Two” as a real life project. This news came as a surprise to both of them and reached them on the same day.

Antoine Monod predicted the end of the series
Antoine Monod in an interview with BILD: “A few days ago a TV presenter called me and said that the series “Affair for Two” was being discontinued. Of course, this makes me very sad. I really enjoyed playing my role and had a lot of fun developing the character of Benny Hornberg over the course of 13 years.”

However, Mono had a premonition that the series might end soon. “I always remembered that at some point the television company would call me. Because I know that nothing lasts forever today. I’ve never played a role for 13 years before and will probably never act again. I am very grateful for this, but at the same time sad. I’d like to continue playing this role for a few more years.”

The end of the series is a financial turning point
Monod believes the network’s justification for wanting to focus on fewer crime thriller formats on Friday nights is credible. “I don’t think that cost savings were the deciding factor here, as was recently the case with Tatort.” Because the costs of our series are now going towards filling other formats and saving nothing.”
For Antoine Monod For me personally, the end of the series also means financial losses. “Of course, Business for Two has always been a reliable source of income for me since 2013, which is no longer there. You are already thinking about how to fill the resulting hole. Because we actors, like other people, have to pay our bills. Fortunately, my other crime series, Boehringer and the Dead, continues to air on RTL. Regardless of the financial side, I am still interested in series and future series.”
