Ottawa Redblacks defensive lineman Habakkouk Baldonado received two fines for his conduct in Week 6, including one for making an obscene gesture toward the Edmonton Elks bench and/or fans.
The incident occurred after the Italian pass rusher came home and picked off Cody Fajardo in the first quarter. Baldonado celebrated the game by extending both arms outward with his middle fingers raised and flipping a double bird to the crowd and his opponents.
Baldonado was also fined for an incident in the fourth quarter in which he head-butted Edmonton offensive lineman Jordan Murray. The right tackle was also penalized for cutting during the same altercation. Both players were given unnecessary roughness penalties at the time.

Edmonton defeated Ottawa 40-17, with Baldonado recording two tackles and a sack. The Rome native arrived in Ottawa as a free agent this offseason as the highest-paid global player in CFL history and has since recorded five defensive tackles and one sack. He won the Gray Cup in 2025 with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The CFL’s Department of Health, Safety and Integrity oversees league discipline, including fines. The committee includes Chief Football Officer Greg Dick, Vice President of Officiating Darren Hackwood, Associate Vice President of Football Operations Ryan Janzen and Associate Vice President of Health and Safety Eric Neuvo.
Per league policy, the league does not announce dollar amounts of fines, discipline related to dress code violations, discipline of teams or personnel, or discipline of released players. The maximum allowable fine under the collective agreement is half the value of the game check.
Montreal midfielder Micah Ave was fined the maximum fine for his actions in week six.
The Ottawa Redblacks (0-5) host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3-2) on Sunday, July 19, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 pm ET. The Blue Bombers earned a 30-21 victory over the Toronto Argonauts, while the Redblacks lost 40-17 to the Edmonton Elks.
