A judicial investigation into attempted spousal murder and intentional spousal violence was opened in Rennes after a 29-year-old woman fell from the 4th floor of a building on July 15. In a press release issued on Friday, prosecutor Frédéric Teye states that the victim’s 28-year-old companion was charged and then placed in custody in accordance with the prosecutor’s order.
Police intervened at the Place de Haut-Chalet after agents from the city of Rennes reported finding a victim on the ground after falling from a height of approximately 10 meters. The prosecutor details that the young woman “was wearing only underwear and (that) a rope was around one of her two wrists.” After being injured, she was granted total disability (TLT) for 50 days and was able to be heard at the hospital that same day.
Violence out of “jealousy”
During the hearing, the victim stated that her companion “out of jealousy (committed) violence against her, forced her to take almost all her clothes off, did not allow her to escape from the house and tied one of her hands.” She claims she then tried to reach the balcony before being pushed.

According to the prosecutor, the suspect “disputes the facts of the alleged attempted murder,” claiming that the victim “fell alone from the kitchen window of his apartment” while trying to go out onto the balcony. He admits only to “using an arm lock to get the victim’s phone back.”
