A family’s beach vacation took a bizarre turn when the family checked into Airbnb and discovered an old photo of them hanging on the wall.

TikTok user Aubrey Birrell posted a video of her horrified reaction to an Airbnb in San Diego, California on July 2.

In the video, Birrell zooms in on a large beach canvas hanging in the hallway of an Airbnb, pointing out tiny figures in the water and identifying his father, sister and brother.

The tourist said that this discovery occurred when the family was inspecting the rented apartment after registration.

“We look at this photo and my dad says, ‘That looks like me,'” Birrell says.

“I was like, ‘Dad, what?’ … No, this is my dad. This is my sister Libby from 10 years ago, and this is Brady, my brother, 10 years ago.”

“That’s it,” she says. “They’re literally in an Airbnb.”

Her sister Libby, who appears in the video, was equal parts alarmed and surprised.

“It’s alarming, a random Airbnb,” Libby said.

“We are literally in this photo. We’re on our Airbnb wall.”

“We have these swimsuits,” added Birrell’s sister. “We are literally in this photo. We’re on our Airbnb wall.”

Some commentators said they found this discovery very strange.

“Literally sounds like the beginning of a horror movie,” one person wrote.

“Proof that we are living in a simulation,” another commenter said.

A third person asked: “What are the odds of you looking that closely at the photo?”

“Similar crazy story: my uncle received a postcard from Mackinac Island and the photo just happened to be my grandpa eating an ice cream cone,” said one TikToker. “He passed away many years ago.”

“I once checked into a hotel on the beach in the middle of a thunderstorm,” said another viewer. “I grabbed the newspaper and held it above my head. When I got to the room, I looked at the newspaper and saw a photo of my mom and (me) on the first page. It was from a festival in a beach town three years ago!”
