Chris Hemsworth was previously set to star in the upcoming Paramount film. GI Joe film, but now sources tell Nexus Point News that the actor has left the project for unknown reasons. Bradley Cooper is now being considered to take on the lead role in the new Danny McBride adaptation GI Joe.
Speaking on Happy Sad Confused, McBride revealed that his take on GI Joe will be Duke-centric and will take a more grounded approach than audiences might have expected.
“In a weird way, it grounds GI Joe; it’s not a comedy. It’s kind of suspense and action, and I think it’s going to be a lot of fun,” McBride said. “You follow Duke and a group of other Joes… In the comic, there’s a town called Springfield, the town where the Cobras secretly live, and that’s where our movie takes place.”
Back in February, it was reported that Paramount was developing two competing G.I. Joe scripts, one from Danny McBride and the other from disgraced screenwriter Max Landis. McBride’s proposal ultimately won over the studio and is moving forward.
Cooper and McBride have collaborated before. Cooper made a surprise appearance as Elijah Gemstone in an episode of the HBO series. Righteous gems.

Cooper is known for his famous performances in A Star is Born, American Sniper, and like Rocket’s voice Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Most recently he appeared in Is this thing on? And Superman.
