Police found a dead man in Werratalsee near Eschwege (Werra-Meissner) on Monday afternoon. The man is an 83-year-old man from the Werra-Meissner area, police said Tuesday.

The exact circumstances and cause of death remain unclear. The man’s body will now undergo an autopsy. A tragic accident cannot yet be ruled out.

Search using drones and boats

A concerned cyclist alerted officers Monday morning after finding clothes abandoned on the shore, Eschwege police said.

Search activities were launched immediately. After a search using drones and boats, the man was found dead about five hours later. According to police, there is no evidence of foul play yet.
