A man shot dead while sitting in his car in his driveway in Sydney’s north-west may have been killed hours before the matter was reported to police.
Emergency services were called to the scene on North Rocks Road in Carlingford shortly after 7am.

Police found a man in his 30s in the car.
He received serious gunshot wounds and died on the spot.
The man’s identity has not yet been officially established.
North Rocks Road is closed and the public is urged to avoid the area.
The investigation is ongoing.
Neighbors told reporters that potential gunshots were heard around 5 a.m.
A member of the public found the man at around 7am and called police.
Acting Superintendent Michael Marinello said the timing of the shooting was still being determined.
“We don’t believe this is a random attack. We believe this is an isolated incident,” Marinello said.
He said the victim was known to police but an organized crime link to the shooting had not yet been established.
“It’s not something we’re discounting, but it’s not something we’re confirming at this point,” he said.
At this stage, he said police do not believe the man was attacked by mistake.
He also would not confirm whether the man lived at the house where he was shot, but that people who lived there were helping police with their investigations.

Officers are speaking to a number of witnesses and are beginning the process of reviewing extensive CCTV footage in the area.
Marinello said they have not identified the getaway car, if indeed it was used.

Police cordoned off part of the street, including several parked cars, with tape and vehicles.
Police tape also blocked the driveway to the house where the body was found.
It is believed that members of the Raptor anti-gang squad were present at the scene.
