Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia has opened up about receiving new mental health diagnoses while going through perimenopause in the second chapter of her life.

Torn The 51-year-old Hitmaker revealed that she was previously diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Imbruglia, who was once married to Silverchair rocker Daniel Jones, said she is happy to open up about her perimenopause and mental health in an attempt to help other women who may be going through the same thing.

“Let’s just say it was a grieving process. I was very angry. I fell off a cliff,” she said.

“I felt like someone had taken a part of my personality.”

Imbruglia is a single mother and has a six-year-old son, Max Valentine Imbruglia, born alone through IVF and an anonymous sperm donor back in 2019.

She lives in the UK with her son.

When she announced his birth, she shared a photo of him holding his hand on Instagram, writing in her post: “Welcome to the world…Max Valentine Imbruglia 💙My heart is breaking 🥰🥰🥰 #myboy.”

Imbruglia appeared on How to fail The podcast was recently closed, claiming that she preferred single motherhood “to being with a man.”

“This is absolute nonsense,” she said.

“That’s not the case. We’re just in a situation where there’s a biological clock and you know a decision has to be made.”

She sweetly added, “When you meet your child, and the divine timing for it to be this particular child, and the rings of fire that I had to jump through, I would do it a thousand times over.”
