Tom Holland takes Timothée Chalamet’s place after a long break
For years, landing Timothée Chalamet meant landing one of Hollywood’s hottest young stars.
Now insiders say the scenario could change.
According to multiple sources, the Oscar-nominated actor is no longer the automatic first choice for some of Hollywood’s biggest prestige projects – a shift they say has more to do with perception than performance.
“Nobody stays hot forever, but Timothy cooled off faster than anyone expected,” one veteran casting executive told Rob Shatter’s well-informed source.
“Just a couple of years ago, every big script would come across his desk first. That just doesn’t happen anymore.”
Sources say there was no turning point. Instead, they point to a number of public points, including his support for the Kalshi prediction market and his recent remark that he would rather see the New York Knicks win an NBA championship than win an Oscar.
“It’s not just one moment—it’s a series of moments,” another insider explained.
“The feeling around town was that Timothy was more focused on becoming a celebrity than on protecting the mystique that made the public fall in love with him in the first place.”
Some casting directors say another young star is now getting the first call.
“For many roles today, I would call Tom Holland rather than Timothy,” the casting director added.
“Tom has a reputation for being collaborative, reliable and easy to work with. When you’re investing $100 million in a movie, those qualities carry a ton of weight.”
Another insider summed up the fact-heavy nature of Hollywood, recalling what every star knows well: “This town is ruthless. You’re as hot as you’ve been for the last few months.”
Whether this is a temporary pause or a long-term shift will only be answered by Chalamet’s next move.
