They became common under the Renaissance regime. Since Colonel Randrianirina came to power in October last year, the number of scandalous searches has increased. They primarily target those who are close toex-president Andry Rajoelinabusiness leaders, former ministers or politicians.

Some are held at one in the morning, outside the legal hours. Officially, the authorities talk about attacks on state security. But this phenomenon is so alarming that in February last year, Justice Minister Fanirisoa Hernaivo already called on the Malagasy people to condemn these abuses. Since then, several soldiers have been sentenced to prison.

Call for the arrest of impostors

A recent illustration, July 9, in Ambohibao, on the outskirts of Antananarivo. About twenty hooded men, some armed, broke into the homes of Chinese citizens.

They claim to be acting on orders from the president. Introduce yourself as police officers and do not present any documents. Output: more than 200 million ariaries, about 40,000 euros, as well as currency and jewelry.

The president denies this and calls for the arrest of those he calls impostors.
