A year after he went toe-to-toe with Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon 2025, Jannik Sinner is set to return to Center Court to take on the seven-time Wimbledon champion in the semi-finals.
Sinner won in straight sets in last year’s iconic semi-final showdown and he looks strong again in 2026, winning the final four rounds without dropping a set. One person who will be rooting for the 24-year-old tennis player from the sidelines is his girlfriend Leila Hasanovic.

Who is Jannik Sinner?
Sinner born 16 August 2001 is an Italian professional tennis player. Voted number one in the world by the ATP, he is the first Italian to ever reach the highest point in the ranking.

He has won 19 singles titles on the ATP Tour.
He has won four majors – the 2024 and 2025 Australian Open, 2024 US Open and 2025 Wimbledon.

When did Sinner start playing tennis?
He began competing in professional men’s events at age 16 and became one of the few players to win multiple ATP Challenger Tour titles at age 17.
He won the ATP Rookie of the Year award in 2019 and in 2021 became the youngest ATP 500 champion at the Washington Open.
Did Sinner beat Djokovic before?
At the 2024 Australian Open, Sinner defeated the then world No. 1. Djokovic in the semi-finals. He won the championship after beating Daniil Medvedev in a five-set final.

In last year’s Wimbledon semi-final, he also put on a flawless performance against the legendary Novak Djokovic, defeating him in three straight sets.
Who is Sinner dating?
Sports star dated Italian model Maria Braccini from 2020 to 2024, before starting a relationship with a Russian tennis player Anna Kalinskaya.
“Of course it’s not easy, I travel a lot and during tournaments I’m very focused,” Sinner said. Vanity Fair at that time.

“But I think it’s beautiful when you find true love. As for everyone,” he said. “And then, if you think about it, all the best tennis players in the world have wives and children.”
However, a year later, in May 2025, Sinner confirmed that they had separated.

Sinner is currently dating Danish model and fashion influencer Laila Hasanovic. The founder of self-tanning brand NRD55 is no stranger to the spotlight: he previously dated Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher, but they split in early 2025.
Layla and Yannick’s romance rumors began during the 2025 US Open when eagle-eyed fans spotted a photo of her on the lock screen of Sinner’s phone. He confirmed their relationship during his victory speech at the Vienna Open in October 2025.

Sinner’s scandals
In August 2024, an independent tribunal declared that Sinner tested positive for the banned substance clostebol in two separate tests from March 2024.

The tribunal accepted Sinner’s explanation that the prohibited drug entered his body as a result of a massage performed by his physiotherapist and that Sinner had “no fault or negligence” but was forced to forfeit prize money and ranking points earned at the Indian Wells tournament.
In early 2025, the World Anti-Doping Agency appealed the decision and an agreement was reached that resulted in Sinner being suspended for three months.
How much prize money did Sinner win?
2024 was his best year, bringing home $19,735,703 in prize money. In 2025, he won $19,120,641.
