Southampton ∙ After defeats to Ireland, India began a series of difficulties in England. India suffered a 56-run defeat in the fifth Twenty20 match against England. Score: England 257 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. India 201 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. India miserably lost the next four matches, except the first match which was interrupted by rain, and lost the 5-match Twenty20 series to England (0–4). And the embarrassment that this is the first series in Twenty20 history in which Team India has not won a single match in a multi-match series. In the Twenty20 rankings, England have overtaken India to take the top spot.

England’s 257 is the team’s highest score against India in Twenty20 Internationals. Chasing Indians’ 254 in the Twenty20 World Cup semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in March, England surpassed their own record of 246 for 7. Buttler and Brook put on 233 runs for the second wicket. However, the highest score for the second wicket was achieved through the partnership of Jos Buttler and Harry Brook. Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma’s joint record of 210 runs is legendary. This is the highest partnership in England for any wicket in terms of runs.

Earlier, England scored 257 for the loss of three wickets thanks to a double-century partnership between Jos Buttler and Harry Brooke. Jos Buttler, who scored 64 balls, returned with 131 runs, including 8 sixes and 12 fours. This is the highest individual score in a Twenty20 match against India. Buttler surpassed West Indies opener Evin Lewis’s record of 125 not out against India in 2017. Jos Buttler has overtaken Virat Kohli to become the third highest scorer in Twenty20. Harry Brooke remained unbeaten on 95 off 45 balls, including 8 sixes and 4 fours.
