The residents of Emmerdale have found themselves in a number of sticky situations over the years, but Charity Dingle’s (Emma Atkins) ongoing unrest is probably the worst.
While trying to become a surrogate mother for granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), she had an affair with Ross Barton (Michael Parr) and ended up pregnant with his child instead. This now means that Sarah is unknowingly raising her Aunt Leila as her own offspring.
Just the tip of the iceberg, Charity was later blackmailed over the situation and sexually assaulted by the menacing Doctor Todd (Caroline Harker). As the threads begin to unravel, confidant Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) fears Charity has made a grave mistake by telling husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) the truth.
He quickly gains momentum and decides to take revenge on Ross. The resulting situation could be fatal!
Meanwhile, eyebrows are raised over newcomer Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsi) and Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) makes a big decision regarding Kev’s (Chris Coghill) father.

1. Ross Barton falls during a confrontation with Mackenzie Boyd.

Ross agrees to help Mac with his work at Emmerdale Farm, but it quickly becomes apparent that there is more to the situation than meets the eye. Wanting to find out where they are, Ross carefully checks to make sure everything is okay between them.
Mac insists there is no problem, but his icy demeanor clearly suggests otherwise.

As they unload heavy sacks in the barn, long-buried bubbles of resentment come dangerously close to the surface. Eventually, passions reach a fever pitch as the couple battle on the mezzanine as their bitter rivalry spirals out of control.
Ross soon finds himself pushed to the brink! Will he be okay?
2. Sergeant Reed interrogates Vanessa Woodfield about Dr. Caitlin Todd.

Sergeant Reed arrives on Vanessa’s doorstep with questions about Todd and reveals that serious charges have been brought against her former partner. Deeply troubled by the police visit, Vanessa is forced to search for answers.
Mac becomes increasingly concerned when Charity disappears, prompting him to check on Vanessa. Little does he know, she’s actually taken a brave step forward by attending a support group for rape victims as she begins the long road to recovery.

Chas is later stunned to discover that Charity has told Mac the truth about Layla’s paternity. Fearing that Sarah might end up finding out the secret, Chas is determined to keep it a secret.
As the cousins hatch a plan, Charity gets closer to revealing the ordeal she has been hiding, but is momentarily interrupted when Liam appears with a well-worn Mac.
3. Serena Sugden’s secrets revealed, Robert wounded

Serena continues to delve into the past, carefully hiding her online research from Robert and Vanessa. However, when Vanessa warns Moira about the newbie’s leading questions about John, a firm warning sounds: certain truths must never come to light.
Later, Kev suddenly realizes exactly how he recognizes Serena and wastes no time in telling Robert, while Aaron’s suspicions about her refuse to go away.

The next day, disaster strikes when Robert is knocked unconscious by a runaway farm trailer while he was out in the field. Aaron can’t ignore the fact that Serena just happened to be there when this happened, and his doubts only deepen.
Joining forces with mom Chas, he decides to keep a close eye on Serena – the pair make a discovery that leaves them reeling.
4. Gabby Thomas’ anxieties increase as her relationship with Billy Fletcher blossoms.

Gabby is upset when Don asks her and Billy to hold off on telling the kids the news about their relationship, although his support of Laurel’s questionable approach to food offers some consolation.
Complications soon arise when Clemmie catches Gabby and Billy kissing, forcing her to confront Dawn. While the girl seems to have taken the revelation in stride, Dawn finds the situation much more difficult to understand.
Later that week, Gabby’s anxiety about food continues to escalate, culminating in her abruptly taking her son Thomas home from a friend’s birthday party after being upset by what she sees on the menu.
5. Lewis Barton gives dad Kev a new opportunity.

When Nicola contacts Ross about her ongoing dilemma with Kev, he immediately reassures her that the matter has been resolved. Despite his confidence, she can’t help but worry about Lewis.
Lewis soon makes a big decision, leaving Nicola confused when she discovers she has given Kev a job at the cafe. As doubts begin to creep in, Lewis wonders if he has made a serious error in judgment.
6. Caleb Miligan leaves Kerry Pollard in charge of his latest delivery.

With their counterfeit goods operation in full swing, Caleb assigns Kerry to oversee one of his shipments, assigning her to work alongside Billy to get the job done.

7. Noah Dingle looks to the future

Could a way out be on the cards?
Noah dropped a bombshell on Mac when he announced that he was seriously considering looking for work abroad. This couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Dingle clan, given the recent unrest in Charity.
Will Noah leave or will Mac talk him out of it for his mother’s sake?
8. Jimmy King strikes up a friendship with Manpreet Sharma.

Taking a break from work, Jimmy trades responsibilities for relaxation and sneaks off to enjoy a game of golf with Manpreet.
While this seems largely insignificant, could this plant the seeds for his upcoming storyline?
