CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK) — Thomas Stein was sentenced Friday morning to life in prison with a 15-year revision after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder and attempted robbery in the killing of 15-year-old Kayla Rincon-Miller.

Rincon-Miller was shot and killed in Cape Coral two years ago as she walked from a movie to McDonald’s with her friends.

In May, a jury found Stein guilty of first-degree murder and attempted robbery. Stein faces life in prison for murder.

He asked for a new trial in June but was denied. His co-defendant, Christopher Horn Jr., was sentenced to 25 years in prison after taking a plea deal.

As part of this deal, Horne was required to testify against Stein at trial. He and a witness said Stein pulled the trigger during the shooting that killed Rincon-Miller.
